Performance Week!

What a busy week we have coming up!  ISTEP starts tomorrow and our play is on Tuesday!  We will be testing each day this week Monday through Thursday.  Please help us by encouraging your children to do their very best!

We had our Mock Trial on Thursday of this past week and our kids were great!  The judge said that they were very well behaved and was impressed with our participants.  We are very proud of them.  We can't wait for you to all see their hard work come our on Tuesday for our play.  We need the students at school around 5:30 so we can be ready to go at 6:00pm on Tuesday!

Here are some photos of our practice and the Mock Trail!  Have a great week!

Busy Week/Busy Month

Well, we are in the midst of one of the busiest times of our school year.  This week we have our Mock Trial and we are working hard at having our play ready by next Tuesday.  Next week is our final round of ISTEP for this year and our play/music program.  The students have really been stepping up and we have seen great improvement in their scenes.  We are excited to see costumes coming in this week and to see the change each time they practice.
The play will be performed for the student body on Tuesday, April 28th at 1:45 and then again that evening at 6:00 pm.  This is the music program for our team as well as our play so all students need to attend each of the performances.  We would like the students to report to their homerooms on Tuesday evening by 5:30 so we can make sure we are all ready to go at 6:00.  Thanks for your help with this event.
Our second virtual make up day is now over and we have had very good participation.  We appreciate all of the parental help with making sure that this was a success.  We have one more in May and our final snow make up day will be a day added to the end of the school year.  The last student day for Riverside students will be June 2nd.  (PHS students last day will be June 3rd).
Our Notre Dame field trip will be May 7th and we have had a great response and have reached our limit for chaperones.  If you did not send your form and money in yet and you were wanting to go, we can put you on a wait list if we have some seats open up.  Just contact your students home room teacher.
     Have a great week.
Congrats to Billy Sanchez our 5th grade Spelling Champion

April is Here!

Well, it looks like it is finally spring!  We are entering into the crazy busy time of year for everyone.  We are busy working on our play, which we will be presenting on April 28th.  Please talk to your student about what they are doing for their costume if they need one.  This should be a lot of fun!
We have some field trips coming up.  We will be going to the Marshall County Court House on April 23 for our LEAD trial.  We have been having speakers in to talk to us about different aspects of our legal system.  LEAD stands for Legal Education to Arrest Delinquency.  This is a great program that ends with a Mock Trial.  Our big field trip is a trip to Notre Dame on May 7th.  We are able to take parents to this trip but per a new school board policy parents must ride the bus with us.  Look for permission slips to come home soon.  We will number the parent volunteers as they come in and will take them first come first served.  (We are able to have 20 parents for our team.)  This is a fun trip but a lot of walking.
We are having our Explorations this week and this is something students really look forward to each year.  That will make this week go even faster.
We had our first virtual day this weekend with our next one this coming weekend.  Students must have their work completed by Tuesday of this week to count for our first day.  Thanks for your help in making things run smoothly.  We did not get many questions over this first week's assignments and it seems like the students who worked on their assignments over the weekend did a nice job and got their work completed.  We still have some students that need to finish and we hope that by Tuesday they are all done!
Next week, Echo is going to be going through an update from Friday evening at 9:00p.m. until Saturday evening.  Due to the Echo issue our PBL students will have until Wednesday of next week to turn in their virtual work.  We will make sure students have the information they need so that they can work on most of their work on Saturday they will just not be able to access Echo.    We appreciate your help and know that we are just an email or Google Doc away to help answer questions.

    Have a great week!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone!  We hope that you have had a great Easter weekend.  The weather sure did cooperate so we hope that everyone was able to be outside some to enjoy the spring temperatures.  We have been very busy in the week before Spring Break and the week after.  There are a lot of photos from our spirit assembly, Relay for Life Couples Pageant, Junior Achievement Day, and a few others at the end of this week's post.
Big news is that we have set a date for our Revolutionary War Play.....It will be April 28th.  We will have one performance during the school day for the school and one at 6:00 pm for the "public".  We need all of our students to be at this performance as this also counts as their music performance as well.  They have been working on this for a long time and we hope that it ends up as good as we know it can be!   We could use some parental help with costumes.  If you have a talent in that area contact your students homeroom teacher as we could use some help!
We want to remind everyone that our first virtual make up day will be this Saturday, April 11.   Students will be able to get their assignments through Echo.  We will be discussing the assignments with the students this week and they will be "released" on Thursday and will be due by the following Tuesday.  If internet is an issue here are some suggestions from the administration office for you:

The following are seven options for PCSC families without Internet:
  1. Home Internet access – If families do not have home access due to financial reasons, and are within reach of Comcast Cable… they may check out Comcast Internet Essentials, which provides full Internet access for less than $10 a month. Parents interested should ask building secretaries for a pamphlet. Families may have Internet connectivity using a cell phone as a hotspot or through tethering. Families would need to check with their cell phone provider; there could be added data cost.

  1. A friend or relative’s Internet     access – This could be a great time for students to collaborate with friends or relatives while sharing Internet connectivity.

  1. Apartment or Association Clubhouse – If families live in apartments, associations, or condominiums, many supply Wi-Fi in their clubhouse. It will also be important to     bring a charged computer/iPad and headsets for privacy and the privacy of others.

  1. Church and/or social club Internet access – While PCSC is not working directly with any church or     clubs, families may contact their church, or social club. It will also be important to bring a charged computer/iPad and headsets for privacy and the privacy of others.  Boys and Girls Club of Marshall County has Internet service.

  1. Area Businesses – Local restaurants, coffee houses, or bookstores could be used on occasion for Wi-Fi connection. It will also be important to bring a charged computer/iPad and headsets. PCSC will maintain a list of local businesses who offer free Wi-Fi on the PCSC website.
  2. Plymouth High School will be open on both Virtual Day Saturdays from 9:00 - 3:00 p.m. for students who do not have Internet access at home and questions about assignments.  Any student 6th Grade and below must be accompanied by a parent.
  3. Public Libraries have free Internet access.

Thanks as always for helping remind your students about their Achieve requirement and their reading calendars.  These are two easy grades that we do not want them to miss out on.  We are in the final stretch of our year and we want to end this with a bang!  Thanks for all of your encouragement and help with your student.
