Only Eight Days Left!

Happy Memorial Day!   It is so hard to believe that there are only 8 days of school left in this year!  With the crazy winter we did not think we would ever get to this time of the year!  This is the last week to turn in Riverside Reads and this is also the last week for Achieve 3000.  Please help us encourage the students to do their best and get these things tuned in so they can do the fun things coming up.

We will be having our Invention Fair on Wednesday from 12:30-2:30 and all are welcome to come to Riverside to check out what the students have come up with to help people with different disabilities.  They have been working hard on their prototypes and displays.  In science they have done a lot of work with different prototypes and have been working on making their own prosthetic legs out of a lot of unique items.

We had our talent show last week and that was a lot of fun.  We also have been enjoying our Relay for Life Friday dress up days as well.  Western day was a hit!  There is information coming home in the Monday folders this week about the Relay for Life fun day coming up next week on Tuesday.  Students will be able to participate in some fun activities that the sixth graders have come up with.  Each student will get two tickets to begin with and then they may purchase tickets to do more things as well with all of the proceeds going to Relay for Life.  It should be a fun day.

We are starting to get shirts brought in for our tie dying project.  Students need to have these in by Friday of this week and we also need permission slips for field day as well.

Here are some photos form our gallery walk this week where we did some critical friends critiquing of each others displays.  Also, some photos from science class and the talent show.  Have a great week!

May 12-16

Happy Spring, in Indiana......If the saying, "if you don't like the weather just wait a little bit and it will change." was ever to be true it has been this spring!  From 90 degrees last week for our field trip to rain, hail and cold this week.  I am just thankful for the sunshine today!
With only 13 days left of school we have a lot going on!  We will be sending home information in the Monday folders about our field day and our tie dye project that is coming up.  Also, we will be having our Invention Fair on May 28th in the afternoon in the Riverside gym.  If you are available and would like to come and check out the kids disability inventions and see their displays you are welcome to attend.  We will be having a panel come around and check them out and the students would love to have more people visit their "booth" as well.  We are planning on the fair from 12:30-2:30.
Students have been told over and over that their Riverside Reads for 4th quarter is due by 3:15 on May 29th.  We have a lot who are already finished but some need to get it into high gear before this date arrives.  Also two more weeks of Achieve 3000, help the students not forget this weekly requirement.
Attached are some photos from this past Friday's Relay for Life dress up like a twin day.  Have a great week!

Happy Mother's Day

We hope this finds you enjoying this beautiful Mother's Day.  We had a very busy week here.  We had a guest speaker from Biomet on Monday in science to discuss the design process.  He gave a lot of great information.  On Thursday we went on our trip to Notre Dame and we so appreciate all of the parents that joined us.  It was a warm day but we saw a lot of the campus.  For the first time we were able to get all of our classes onto the football field.  On Friday we had volunteers from local businesses join us for Junior Achievement for the day.  We have a lot to do in the next 18 days, stay tuned for more information.  Please remind your students that Achieve 3000 still needs to be completed each week and Riverside Reads need to be completed soon!
Check out all of the photos from this week!  Have a great week!

Dress like a teacher day!
