New Project Kick Off

We started this past week by kicking off our next project.  This project will focus on helping people with disabilities.  We started off and will continue the first few days of this week with our disabilities challenge.  Students did different activities to see what it would be like to have different disabilities.  We are excited to see what the students come up with for this project.

We continue to work on math facts and will be working on multiplying for the next several weeks.  Students should be practicing their facts so that they have know them quickly.  This will help them later so much.  In science we began our robotics study and the students are very excited about this topic.

Achieve 3000 is a requirement here at Riverside each week and most students are doing a very nice job getting this done.  Also, reading calendars need to be completed as this is a great way to earn points in language arts.

Our shirts will be done this week and we will be tie dying them towards the end of the week.  We are excited to see how they turn out!

    Have a great week!

Busy Short Week

We hope you all survived Labor Day weekend (AKA Blueberry Weekend).  We had a busy week last week getting our first presentations ready to go.  The groups did a very nice job presenting their Blueberry Projects to their classmates.  We were very impressed with their final products.  They really did a wonderful job.
This week we will be kicking off a new project that we hope the students will learn a lot from.  We hope they come home during the week talking about what we are doing here at school.
Students received their September reading calendars last week and they need to make sure they are filling these out daily.  Also, Achieve 3000 is a weekly requirement for everyone al RIS.  This week we start counting Achieve towards our Riverside Roster party.  Students have to meet their weekly Achieve goal of 2 articles at 75% average and meet two of the other Roster requirements to be invited to the party at the end of the quarter.  Our staff really believes in the benefits of the Achieve program.  If your child is struggling encourage them to slow down and go back into the articles to find their answers.  It is not a race.  We want them to take their time and do their best.
     Have a great week.
