Get Out the Vote Project

We have spent the past couple of weeks working on our newest project dealing with voting and the election.  We are keeping all politics out of this project just talking about voting and encouraging people to vote.   The groups have been working on different advertisements for radio and our school about voting.  We will be hosting a Mock Election for our school on November 8th.  The students have been doing a great job with this quick project.
Reminders that September reading calendars can be turned in at any time but are due no later than October 7th.  There is still time to order a Riverside Cookbook just turn in the orders ASAP.  Our team has really started doing well on Achieve 3000 and we won the spirit stick two weeks in a row.  We are so proud of our readers!!
    Have a great week!

Post Blueberry Week!

The week after Blueberry is in the books.  We survived even though we had a fog delay that messed up our Friday plans.  We apologize if you did not get the email or Remind Ap text that we had to slightly change the times for the presentations.  We tried to get the information out as early as we could.  Our schedule changes on two hour delay days and as much as it is nice to have a later start it really does mess up things here at school.  This is the first time in the years we have been doing PBL presentations that we had a delay on a presentation day.  Again we are sorry if the change caused you any grief.
The presentations went well and we are very proud of the students and how they worked together.  It was loud at times with other students visiting but all in all it went well and they did a very nice job.  We are very excited to see what they come up with for our next project.
Parent Teacher Conference forms will be coming home soon.  We look forward to meeting with each family.  Our Echo Parent Night will be September 28th at 6:00 pm at Riverside.  If you want to learn more about Echo please join us.
     Have a great week!

Happy Labor Day or Happy Blueberry Festival

This week was a fast week and an even faster weekend!  We hope this finds all of you doing well and ready to tackle a new week!  Our students are getting ready for their first presentations on their Olympic Countries.  We hope that some of you will be able to join us for our gallery walk on Friday, September 9 from 1-2:30 in our classrooms.  This is just a walk around and listen event.  The students will be presenting to whoever comes around to their displays.  If you can't make it we understand and we will have other opportunities at different times for you to come and see your child's work this year.
The first month of school is over and students reading calendars are due by Friday at 3:00pm signed by a parent.  This is a super easy way to get points in language arts and we hope it promotes reading as "Readers are Leaders!"  Achieve 3000 is a weekly requirement for everyone at Riverside and we are already seeing great improvement!  We hope they keep it up all year!
Please ask your student to log into Echo and show you their grade book.  They have all been taught how to access their grades.  We are going to be having an Echo parent night in September but you do not have to wait.  They can show you very easily.  For Art,PE and Music grades you can have them log into Power School.
Please if you have any questions or concerns contact one of us and we will do our best to answer any questions or help resolve any issues.
    Have a great week!
