Do you think it will snow?

Here is my view as I sit here writing this week's post.   We are well over ten inches here and it has not stopped snowing all day!

My guess is we will soon be getting a call that school will be canceled for tomorrow.  It is beautiful if you don't have to go out and drive in it.  We hope our students had a chance to go out and play in the snow before the temperature drops tonight!  It sure is wet. good packing snow!  If we are canceled tomorrow encourage your children to read for a while, practice their math facts.  If they have access to a computer tell them to work on MobyMax or Achieve 3000.
This week we kicked off our latest project dealing with the American Revolution.  This should be a fun project and we look forward to sharing it with you as it unfolds.  Students took a survey and they were placed into new groups according to this information. We did some fun team-building activities on Wednesday and we learned that working together we can accomplish so much more then by ourselves. It was a lot of fun!
The first round of ISTEP is coming in about a month.  The test this year is very different then the previous tests.  Here is a link that you are welcome to go to and check out the types of questions that could show up on the test.  There are language arts, math, science and social studies.  (Some questions are for 6th graders but still will let you see types of items.)  We have shown some of these already to the students and will be doing some required Department of Education practice tests in the next few weeks as well.  We don't want our students to be totally shocked by what they see on this test, but we only know what we have been told.  We just want the students to be confident and try their best.  If you take a look at some of these questions feel free to talk to your students about them and about how them might answer a question similar to those shown.  The more they see them and talk about them the less overwhelmed they will be when it is time to take the 'real" test.
Well, I just got my call.  We are out of school tomorrow.  Stay warm and safe.  We hope to see the students back on Tuesday!  Have a good Superbowl Sunday!

It was ThrowBack Thursday for the staff this week!  We love to dress up!
